I've noticed now that this bug is no longer there. Im running feisty and
havent seen it since it was final. You can mark this bug as fixed.

I just restarted my laptop to check - shutting down is about 20 seconds
- very quick.
Boot from grub to login screen - at 2min 30 secs, the boot continues
from the "hang" and in 3 minutes total the laptop is sat at the GDM
login.

I can confirm that I recieve the same problem on my Sony Vaio VGN-S3HP
also, however it is not hanging - given enough time it will boot.
