Is this really fixed? I'm using the final release of Ubuntu 11.04, and

I will change to only add the extra margin when unity is running, but if
you switch between sessions, you can get icons on the desktop that moves
from the extreme right to the left because of the icon desktop area is
different between them.
The current margin is a little bit too much (I just added

an addendum...
I have used both mac and pc with linux... the statement about global menu
applies to mac as well... on a wide screen and especially on dual monitors...it
is a very bad design at its basic concept...

As i recall.. sometime back... when the auto-hide was enabled in ccsm. unity
plugin...the launcher panel would be hidden until moused over and the icons
would shift position when it came out of auto-hide I may be remembering
that wishfully.
Most definitely a visual bug..

Would it not be better to add an additional gconf-key to enable the
additional margin in Unity instead of hard-coding it into the binary? Or
maybe a new startup option which only Unity calls (Like "--unity-mode")?
Or maybe Nautilus should look for a variable like "UNITY_EXTRA_MARGIN"
or something e

ok, seems indeed that the default left margin is not enough to be out of
the launcher space, maybe we should just set the value so they don't get
under the launcher without blocking manual placement, that should be
enough for most cases and much easier than trying to block users screen

or when auto aligning the icons, they will only do for users who decide
