Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs

On boot purple screen comes up with logon , after logon 3 errors are
displayed.
1. cannot find ICEauthrority/home/thomas
2. Cannot find /home/thomas/desktop,/home/thomas/.nautilus (please set
permissions or make directory)
3. Cannot load /home/thomas/desktop

Then Im left with a purple screen and no desktop icons or panels. Can only
access files with the alt f2 keystrokes that I know of.
Booting from cd with "Try Ubuntu" enabled me to report this.
System was working fine until I was Prompted to update ubuntu last night, after
a 3 hour update this is what i have now :(

10.04 LTS the lucid lynix, was before update.

** Affects: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
