Workaround posted on KDE tracker (I can confirm that it works): http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=136378#c15 Basically, it doesn't know what master channel to adjust the volume on until you manually set it. Even though it's automatically set to Master, it doesn't use that autoset value
