I am sure it is not a right solution. It is better to delete duplicated
icons from one of affected packages or put icons into external package.

Same problem. Even with 2.7.9 too and facebook plugin 1.6.9
E: /var/cache/apt/archives/pidgin-facebookchat_1.67.1-1_i386.deb: trying
to overwrite '/usr/share/pixmaps/pidgin/protocols/16/facebook.png',
which is also in package pidgin-data 1
I think we should remove
the issue is rather a pidgin-facebook one that a pidgin bug, the issue
only affects natty and users who manually install pidgin-facebook so
there is no hurry to fix the issue, let's wait for debian to pick a
solution since there is different way to solve that and we don't want to
pick a different

This might only happen if you have pidgin-facebookchat installed (as I
did). If you remove pidgin-facebookchat and then update it works.
However I found that:
sudo aptitude remove pidgin-facebookchat
failed with the first solution:
