It happened me after I save a copy of a PDF using the option Save a
copy from the menu of evince. Then I clic the close buttons and receive
the notification error.

I have just had this error while opening some pdf files from Firefox.
One of them (http://www.docv.gva.es/datos/2010/09/06/pdf/2010_9553.pdf)
has crashed evince. Nonetheless, once I have tried again it has opened
the file without problems. So, the error hasn't reproduced.
In kern.log I get:
This seems fixed for me on latest updates ...

This just happened to me.
I was opening two pdf's attached to an email (thunderbird) .
I've tried to reproduced again but it was not possible.

Thanks for your response. This bug does appear to have a valid
stacktrace, so let's see if there is enough information for the
developers to work the issue. I am marking it confirmed, with the
developers aware that it can not be reproduced reliably.

Happened to me when I was compiling the pdf with pdflatex in Texmaker.
The pdf was already open in Evince..and usually the view refreshes
automatically when the file has changed.
Only this time it crashed.
I have not been able to reproduce it yet..

Charlie: No, I can't reliably reproduce this, and I can't give clear
information on what I was doing to cause the crash. There were several
opened pdf files (like the one here:
http://www.admin.ch/ch/d/sr/c142_20.html I don't know exactly which,
directly opened from Firefox) and when I switched

* How can I reproduce this, please give me the exact steps. Do I attempt opeing
a pdf in firefox or thunderbird or evince?
* Is it possible to attach the pdf file which caused the error as an attachment
below?
