Thanks for the info. At the moment, I'm holding off on using Edgy because of the emergency hard drive parking issue (which happened in Dapper, too). They say hd's are only rated for so many of those. But if they get that working, I'll try your SD card fix and give it a run. Dan FredStrauss

The same on my HP nx8220. It worked fine in Dapper, but doesn't in Edgy. I get the same log entry: [17193396.436000] tifm_7xx1: sd card detected in socket 3 and nothing further. -- SD/MMC card reader worked in Dapper, but not Edgy https://launchpad.net/bugs/70175 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list

Found the fix, just do sudo modprobe tifm_sd and insert the card again -- SD/MMC card reader worked in Dapper, but not Edgy https://launchpad.net/bugs/70175 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hi To make it persistent over reboots, add tifm_sd to /etc/modules Whether this is an actual fix the way the ubuntu developers will do it, I'm not sure. I suspect the proper way to do it is to load the module only when it's needed, but I needed a quick fix :) Fred -- SD/MMC card reader worked

** Description changed: Laptop is Toshiba Satellite M55-S3314. Card reader is Texas Instruments PCIxx21 chipset 5-in-1. This worked fine in Breezy and Dapper. Doesn't work in Edgy. - Inserting an SD or MMC card yields nothing. dmesg |tail indicates: + Inserting an SD or MMC card
