Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

To repro launch an application such as Gimp or Inkscape on a netbook
with 1028x600 screen then hover over the panel to display the
application's menus.

Expected: I can use any of the application's menus

Observed: The menus on the extreme right are obscured by the indicators
and can not be accessed.

When the menus are active they should draw on top of anything else in
the panel and use the full width of the display (maybe even shift to the
left over the close minimize / maximize buttons and truncated window
title.

Otherwise they should be below the panel like currently happens with
Firefox to take advantage of the full screen width.

I can't believe this hasn't already been reported but couldn't find it
after many searches. Maybe it is already scheduled as a work item (I
know things are changing rapidly in the Alpha stages).
