I can reproduce the bug with current natty. I created a username
"byss_n_sunshine" and indicator-me shows the username as
"byssnsunshine".

Which version of Ubuntu are you using? I do see the underscore in the
test user I created in Ubuntu 10.10 with indicator-me 0.2.10-0ubuntu1
(which is the latest version). Refer screenshot.
