Im using Feisty Fawn and had the same problem with mounting an WebDAV Folder
from GMX (www.gmx.de)
If i try to mount via mount.davfs2 i got:
"Connection failed, mounting anyway. File system will only be usable when
connection comes up."

For those that are interested, i'm using Edgy and couldn't get its
davfs2 package to work reliably. After my post a few back, Dapper's
version of davfs2 seems a bit flakey Feisty's version depends on a
more recent libc6 and libneon.
To get Feisty's current version (1.1.2) running i compiled it
One further Problem is shown when running dpkg-reconfigure:
# LANG=C sudo dpkg-reconfigure davfs2
chmod: cannot access `/var/run/mount.davfs': No such file or directory
This can be solved (until reboot) by creating this directory manually:
# sudo mkdir /var/run/mount.davfs
# LANG=C sudo dpkg-reco
I had the same problem on my 64 bit system. I found that the (old)
davfs2_0.2.8-1build1_amd64.deb works perfect!

Hi guys,
Last week I had my WebDAV folders mounting as a non-root user perfectly
under Edgy.
An update a couple of days ago broke this. Mounting as a user just
hangs... strace -f mount shows it hanging after an error regarding
setuid.
I used 'dpkg-reconfigure davfs2' to set the setuid bits origi

I always get:
/sbin/mount.davfs: Connection failed, mounting anyway. File system will only
be usable when connection comes up.
using "dpkg -L davfs2" you see an empty "/usr/lib" dir.
The Readme says:
If you want to allow non-root users to mount a davfs file system, you have to
set a few
thing
(running edgy)

Mine mounts, and works for under a minute, then I get "no such device or
address." if I try to access the mount.
