The next question is if you can test with a Hardy Alpha release? Alpha2
and subsequent releases contain an updated version of the kernel. You
can download and try the new Hardy Heron Alpha release from

will be released within
OK, sorry for the delay, I updated the machine last weekend, and the
bug's still there. It wasn't a clean install though, so YMMV.

David, a new ubuntu release came out today, the Gutsy Gibbon. Care to
try testing this new release without needing to use the 'irqpoll' kernel
parameter and verify if this is still an issue? Thanks!

kernel hangs
OK, I managed to resolve this bug by adding 'irqpoll' to my kernel
parameters.
The only thing is that I don't know if this could be added by default
since according to google it also breaks some stuff in interesting ways.

Don't want to spam other bug's, but I think the bug I reported could be

The linux-image-2.6.20-15-generic package doesn't contain a initrd.img

Disregard my comment, just learned how inird.img is generated during
installation and is not part of any ubuntu package. Also closed my bug.

I have the same issue.
Ubuntu kernel 2.6.19-x hangs during boot after usb related messages.
But I don't know the real problem or can't make any dump or logs.
Alt+sysrq+t works but it scrolls over the limit of shift+pageup and I can't
read all the message.
What can I do?
I'll attach my lshw.
Eungkyu: You have a different bug. This one refers to a delay in boot,
not a total lack of booting. Open another bug report

Ok. I'll file another bug report.
It doesn't boot at all without any oops message.
It may have another problem.
Thanks.

Is there anything special about the devices on the ata_piix controller?
Can you list the devices and their configuration please.
Did this problem occur with any other kernels (edgy, dapper, stock)?
