Yes I have the same on my kubuntu (clean install) if using usplash the machine will not shutdown. However if I remove the usplash it works like designed, well no usplash. This is from the log out > shutdown menu. If shutting down from terminal "sudo shutdown -P 0" then it works. Also did notice,
