I can confirm this bug, after an upgrade from dapper to edgy on my Thinkpad T23.
On dapper i've never had trouble browsing sites using flash.
I can confirm also that starting ffox with XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1
solve the problem.
If some more data are needed, please say me and i'll provide.

Do you have 16bit or 24bit display?
Please try to run Firefox with command:
XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 firefox
and tell us if it helped.
