I take that back - the updated package from the audio dev ppa causes the
sound to no longer be re-routed. If I select the IEC958 output I get no

by a change in the 2.6.35-25 update, as I initially reported, but the
problems are different.

Hello again,
Update manager reported a new version of 2.6.35-27 was available in
proposed so I installed it. Synaptic reports this as 2.6.35-27.48. This
problem still exists, and the digital output continues to only go
through the HDMI output if IEC958 is set as the output.

I've just installed 2.6.35-27 from the proposed repository and this
still isn't fixed. HDMI digital output does work, but IEC958 does not.
Interestingly, if I select IEC958, I still get digital audio output via
HDMI. So whatever changed between kernel 35-24 and 35-25 seems to have
