I can confirm this bug. The noreplacment option doesn't change the
situation. This is a Amd64 with one CPU.

Try adding "noreplacement" to the kernel command line to turn off the
dynamic opcode patching...

have same prob using the 2.6.17-6-amd64-xen0 with hardware=aus pb5
deluxe and core2duo 6300. Can boot 2.6.17-6-generic=xen0 though and use
it.
Posting this so you've got a reference point to ask more info from, not
as nag.
