Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus
i suspect this is because this message is shown after a sync, but if you remove it before you see it actually disappear in the list of volumes in nautilus you get various errors about not being able to send scsi sync/flush commands steps to reproduce: 1) plug in drive 2) sync before eject, or leave it idle so theres nothing to write (not required but helps) 3) eject, pull when dialogue says its' ok and before it disappears in nautilus expected: volume already be synced and gone before that dialogue appears actually happened: unplugging the drive will make the "safe to remove" notice disappear, but a few seconds later you get an error box talking about scsi "sense" failures and trying to flush the drive cache i didn't take a screenshot last time, but i'll try to remember to take one ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: nautilus 1:2.32.0-0ubuntu1.3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-26.46-generic 2.6.35.10 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-26-generic x86_64 Architecture: amd64 Date: Mon Feb 14 09:03:17 2011 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Release amd64 (20101007) ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: nautilus ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug maverick -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/718873 Title: "safe to remove" notice shows up before drive is ready to be removed -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
