just dared to re-change to modemmanager.
i googled around and for that syslog line
outstanding support task prevents export of
/sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-1
i found a similar fedora bug:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=583691
conclusions:
Actually a modem-manager
also i still not understand the reason why you made this bug report private.
for the community and the bug it might better be public
if it is to protect my sim pin - it has no value without my sim.
or are there other reasons that i don't think of?

You received this bug notification because
is it possible to change the lowleveldriver to usbserial to get more

There are multiple errors like the following in syslog:
Mar 21 22:57:24 master kernel: [50865.648956] option:
option_instat_callback: error -71
Mar 21 22:57:24 master kernel: [50865.828131] option:
option_instat_callback: error -108
I think that makes it sufficiently clear that the issue is
is there any idea how to try and use another driver, eg usbserial?

The modem seems to get detected then removed again erratically. Are
you giving it enough time to connect?
Also, please see if you have logs for usb-modeswitch (should be in
/var/log/usb-modeswitch), they might indicate that there is something
wrong in detecting and switching that modem.
--
You
Are you giving it enough time to connect?
very sure i do.
/var/log/usb-modeswitch - no file with that name (i'm running kubuntu if
that matters)
[xl@master:~]$ locate usb-modeswitch
/usr/share/bug/usb-modeswitch-data
/usr/share/bug/usb-modeswitch-data/presubj
/usr/share/doc/usb-modeswitch
There would definitely be files under /var/log/ that describe the way
the modem is switched... maybe it's just modeswitch.log or something?
You could also just attach /var/log/syslog as a whole, since that would
contain at least traces of when the modem gets flipped to modem mode.
