will take you into the GUI, and up to the point where it is ready to install
the new package.
Why doesn't the command
software-center ppa:archivename
take you into the GUI and up to the point where it is ready to add the new PPA?
This would, with
Come to think of it, each LaunchPad PPA's web page could have a ppa:
link in the section labeled Adding this PPA to your system.

Seems not for me a bug but a whish.
In fact, blogs prefer the command line approach. I believe this came as
a natural approach since karmic, when adding PPAs was made possible and
all forms to do this was posted by Ubuntu blogs.

clicks and steps to add a ppa through gui.
