According to the Debian bug, this issue was fixed at least in version
2:4.16.1+dfsg-1. So this is fixed at least in Noble and Mantic.

Thank you for providing the logs.
Unfortunately the logs attached don't show any information on why the
upgrade has failed. It does, however, show that samba is half
configured. Could you please do the following:
sudo dpkg --configure -a
What this command will do is configure or
