sidplay (2.0.9-6ubuntu1) oneiric; urgency=low
* Backport portions of patch from Cybjit resolving failure to play
audio due to missing /dev/dsp. This patch adds ALSA support.
(LP: #727573)
* Update
Still an issue with the full/final release of Natty. However, there is
a workaround one can use instead of the above patch - use alsa-oss and
padsp together:
aoss padsp sidplay2 somefile.sid

I can confirm this with 10.10 too. Seems to be issue with pulseaudio.
Using padsp as it produces garbled output.
