Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 10.10
Package: Don't know (Probably video driver)

When I connect an external monitor to my Dell Vostro 3300 laptop, I get
the image in the monitor, but the image trembles a lot. I try all the
available resolutions and refresh rates. The problem is worst in some
configurations than others, but only in 640x480 resolution at 60Hz the
tremble disappear. Obviously that resolution is not usable at all. I
also tries changing the VGA cable and I try with three different
monitors, but the problem is the same.

Just for test I try to connect an external monitor using other O.S.
(Windows 7), to discard the possibility of hardware malfunction, but in
that S.O. everything works fine.

I contacted Dell support and they refuse support for more O.S. than
Windows 7, but they mention that in that Windows 7 this problem is
commonly related to video driver. I asked for a Linux driver, but get a
negative answer.
