I think this might be X related, as it comes out of suspend properly and
X crashes the system.
Also, please confirm the MAC change bit.

Framebuffer (kernel bootflag) locks up X
fresh boot - change MAC - hibernate - return from hiberation (works). I
return from hibernation with my original MAC, so my manually changed MACaddress
is lost. When I try to change my MACaddress once again (after hibernation), my
system locks up.
Note: This also happens when X is turned off.
The MAC thing is a separate issue from the X one, please file it on
linux-source-2.6.19.
