Captain Chaos,
I too have an NVidia video card (GeForce 8400 GS), which worked immediately
after I installed Ubuntu 10.10 to my hard drive a few days ago. After the
installation, I chose to use Xinerama for my dual monitor setup, and after I
restarted, I had a white/gray background behind my net
I think that's a bit premature. Even if the problem is specific to
NVidia cards, that doesn't mean the problem isn't with network-manage-
applet! All other software on my system has no problem painting itself
correctly, including all the other panel icons.

I can't reproduce this. I also know it looks fine in Maverick on all my
systems, even on a brand new install (did one yesterday). Best bet is
that this is specific to these Nvidia cards; reassigning to 'linux'.
