If I remove the tick by the "cdrom" source in Synaptic/Repositories,
then the problem disappears. I guess that tick should be removed
automatically when connected to the internet?
I should say that I'm running Ubuntu from a live usb stick.

also think there is currently a problem with security.ubuntu.com, or at
least there was earlier this week. Does the problem still exist?
