It's impossible for me to do that now, unfortunately.
FYI, Workrave is the only unusual applet that I run, and it has always
behaved strangely with respect to the panel, so my best guess would be
that it has to do with workrave.

what would be useful is a backtrace of the panel when that's happening,
and to stop the applets one after the one to figure if the bug is
created by one of them

I haven't seen the problem in VMWare, and haven't upgraded other systems to
Feisty. Is there any further detail I can gather from the system? It's in
transit right now, but if (e.g.) the upgrade log would be helpful, I can
provide that.

did you get the bug again? there is no duplicate and we would need

I originally experienced it with an edgy->feisty upgrade, so it happened
with the Edgy panel, but is still an issue for Feisty because of the
upgrade path.
I haven't seen it in any of my VMWare tests, and it might happen only
with certain configurations (workrave, gaim, weather applet?)

Happens to me, too. Every time i use the panel without pppd running is working
well. As soon as i have pppd running (connection to internet throught eth0,
f.i.) if i have mouse over the gnome-panel it freezes or if i try to open a
menu(right mouse button) gdm freezes. I need to either kill gnome
Could you try to get a backtrace if that happens again? Trying to kill
the applet and note if one unfreeze the panel could also be useful if
that's due to an applet

Thanks, though it isn't at all clear to me that the problem is in the panel
itself (which is why I didn't set it myself).
