I can confirm this happens and I have a workaround: Switch to another
vty ( ALT-F1,2,3 etc ), type the password, press enter and go back to
the vty with your desktop. Your password will be entered and uswsusp
will now resume from hibernation.
Also this is my first post on launchpad.
System detail
I am using 12.04. Can't type anything into the passphrase prompt. Alt-F2 just
shows a blank screen.
And as soon as I pres Alt-F? keys the password prompt disappears and I can't
get it back again.
To get the password prompt I have to remove "splash quiet" from the boot
config.

There is some progress with Natty and kernel 2.6.39-rc5 (kernel ppa
builds). With radeon and its framebuffer I am able to switch to tty2 and
back to tty1 and then I am able to enter the password. I am not sure if
this workaround works also with mainline Natty kernel because I had some

Having this same issue with 10.04 32-bit. I believe it is an issue with
the Plymouth splash screen--It apparently has a special way of
requesting input from the user, which the uswsusp process has not yet
