This bug is present in 10.04 LTS. Because 10.04 (desktop) will be
maintained for another two years, please fix this bug. It is very
frustrating.

I think Super + S was chosen because it meant S for Session menu, as the
session menu is what opens when Super + S is pressed with either
indicator-applet-session or indicator-applet-complete loaded into the
panel.
