could we now close this bug since hitting enter actually do launch the
app, or should we change the description to focus on the second
suggestion i.e. to highlight the first search result.

Hope you don't mind I'd like to add my 2p (apologies up front if I'm not
meant to post here or this is not the best way to do it)...
In 11.04 I hit super/windows, dash opens, I type the thing I want (or
partial name), hit enter, the program starts. I do this frequently as I
know the search that br
i like it as is.. search item, gimme list. i pick.
example: i open dash, type "sys", a few related apps show up. then i pick
whichever it is i want.
i don't see anything wrong with that flow even if the first app [left to right]
is the one i want to pick.
in the case of jeremy above, i'd just
njpatel, Enter definitely does not launch the first item.

Perhaps I'm too late to the party, but I would like to know the design
intent behind this. My use case is as follows:
1. Every single day, twice per day, I open a spreadsheet named "TimeKeeper.ods"
and I log my time for my job.
2. When I click BFB, or Win-key, I type "Tim", and the first result
