The alternate disc worked without a hitch. With the normal disc, I
couldn't get far enough to even attempt to install since it would always
crash when loading.

The problem is you're bug report lacks a lot of information,
specifically there's nothing anyone can do anything about the issue
because we have no idea about your hardware, software or what's going
wrong. You could be installing windows, we don't know at this point.
