The legacy notifications have changed since natty, which may be why the
issue no longer exists in oneiric or precise. Thanks for confirming the
issue is gone in newer releases. Since the priority is Low, it's
doubtful this is worth an SRU for natty, so I think we can just close
the bug out at
To my surprise, it looks like this is fixed for Oneiric.
I unfortunately can't provide a screenshot and to reproduce you will need at
least two monitors as well as a Natty system, but on Natty it used to behave as
described above: The Unity panel's emulation of the old GNOME2 notification
area
Could someone post a screenshot and/or steps to reproduce?

someone who cares enough let fix it. It's certainly a very low priority
