Public bug reported:

I'm not sure this is the package to file this against, but with the UUID change 
to /etc/fstab, mkinitrd can't... make an initrd, failing like so:
File descriptor 3 left open
File descriptor 4 left open
File descriptor 5 left open
File descriptor 6 left open
File descriptor 7 left open
    Finding all volume groups
  No volume groups found
/usr/sbin/mkinitrd: 253:0: Cannot find LVM device

Changing the root partition in /etc/fstab back to the old (no-UUID)
style corrects this.

     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
