Try using Grip (CD/RIPPING Program) to rip the CD and it will convert it
to .mp3 encoded. Maybe this will be faster?

Thanks Travis, I will check Grip. Rhythmbox as now completed it. The CD
itself is good quality, now playing the song from the CD and it seems to
be playing in a very high quality from the CD itself. It is an original
CD that I just received from the artist who recorded it professionally.
