driver alone or combined with something else.

Seems fine now in Feisty beta. Synaptics works without panicking my
kernel, logout/login does not hang. Any idea what the problem used to
be, out of curiosity?

I have the exact same problem on an AMD Turion 64 with an ATI Radeon
Xpress 200M with Ubuntu Feisty Fiend Beta. I have tried several display
drivers and the problem does not change. I also saw synaptics drivers
mentioned in the logs. The hang is irrecoverable. I would greatly
appreciate it if anyon
