OK, xkill basically does the same (although you can't press ESC if you
don't want to force quit anything), didn't know about that. Thank you.

It's just more convenient, I know there are other ways.
But they don't always work (the right click method) or require you to know the
process name or ID.
In other words: more work and less user friendly.

This is because the force quit applet hasn't been ported to
libappindicator, and hence won't support Unity. If you want to force-
quit a program then you can run xkill via Alt+F2 or you can right-click
a panel item in the side launcher and select Quit.
