Then log out and log in again.
open again the terminal and type alsamixer
moving with arrows set the levels to high level.

can you please click on the loudspeaker icon and select 'audio preference',
click on input tag, and verify that the volume is at 100% level and not muted,
and the box of the inputs is selected where the mic is connected.
