Title:
unable to remove residual packages
When you select other packages not in the list residual config, suddenly
you can apply them all. Pleas fix
In the mean time
dpkg -l | awk '$1 == "rc" {print $2}' | xargs dpkg -P

Have the same problem myself. In the mean time, this helped me:-
aptitude -F %p search '~c' | xargs sudo dpkg -P
Still, would be better from Synaptics and also means installing
aptitude.

Additional information. Open the Synaptic Package Manager in Natty and
mark the residual packages for removal. Open 'Edit' . 'Apply marked
changes' option is greyed out.

I have the same problem. I can select each package but the apply button
is grayed out. Also, I can't seem to find a way to select all residual
config packages at once, I can only seem to select them one by one--and
there are many.
