I have been having the same problem with Xchat 2.8.6 on Ubuntu Intrepid.
I have confirmed it only occurs when i have the dvorak layout in
keyboard layouts. Even when dvorak is not selected and 'US' is set to
default, xchat quits when i press 'ctrl+x.' Once i remove dvorak from

I can confirm this happens on most recent XChat with Dvorak loaded and
Ctrl+X pressed. This is /extremely/ annoying.

I've solved the bug by deleting the unchecked Dvorak-Keyboard-Layout
under System - Settings - Keyboard - Layout.
Now I can use ctrl+x again without crashing xchat.

I've tried gdb but it only informs me that X-Chat does not crash.
