Did you try the same in Ubuntu Classic sesison from the login screen
with compiz enabled? It could be a compiz bug as well. Can you test and
report here if the problem happens with compiz in Ubuntu Classic as well

Omer, i think your observation is right.
Though i have 11.10 now, so i logged into Ubuntu 2D and it does now show any
refresh issue (but i really dont know if the setting fix screen updates ... is
automatically applied) though i dont see any lag too, so its obviously better.
Now when i log
