Is there a way to do this from the keyboard? Launching applications
using Super + Number is great, but I'd like to be able to launch a
second instance via the keyboard as well.

Maybe the middle-click info could be added to the help? Had to google it
to find out how to start multiple instances of a program.
AFAIK it isn't.

Maybe a better option would be to provide a New Window option on the
context menu for a launcher? The only problem is that not all
applications support opening of new windows. For example, you shouldn't
be able to have two instances of the Ubuntu Software Center open.

What do you mean allow. Why should an app allow it. It's clearly
possible to have multiple gterm's. Just build it into the launcher, I
would say.
