To clarify, I'm able to get the machine to freeze under heavy network
load that is not associated with heavy disk load (watching streaming
videos, for example).

I'm running the latest BIOS update (A06) on a Vostro v130, and it
randomly freezes. It makes it through installation, but will randomly
and completely freeze when under high load. It appears to lock up under
high load even when the Atheros network card is disabled via the
hardware switch.

A06). Should I try to update the bios and see if that fixes the issue?

@Marc -- Can you compare your Vostro 130 with the two David and AceLan
pointed to? One is using a newer BIOS, the other an older, and both
installations worked with Natty. The hardware profiles here look
identical, I'm wondering what is different wrt to the machine you are
testing.

I've tried three times to boot the Natty installer. ONE time it got
through and then froze after installing... but the two times I tried
today, it froze are random points during install and is completely
unresponsive. There is no way we have to get logs o

get the needed logs Evan was asking for.

Could you please click 'Try Ubuntu', then run `ubiquity -d` from a
terminal. Run the install until it freezes, and then open a terminal and
type `sudo apport-collect 767814`. If the whole UI is frozen, try
switching to a VT by pressing ctrl-alt-f2.
