Oh, never mind. I didn't see that in this bug iwlist scanning works.
I'll file a new one.

Hi,
have a similar problem - Atheros AD242 here, iwconfig lists it, but I
can't find any networks neither with network-manager (Kubuntu) nor with
iwlist scanning. Willing to give you any information you need. I tried
to compile madwifi by hand, but it didn't change anything.

networkmanager will not scan/manage interfaces that are marked as
"roaming" in gnome network administration. Can you please confirm that
your device is marked for roaming when you don't see the essids?

Hi, could you please test this in Gutsy (perhaps with a Live CD)? We'll
only be able to address most network-manager bugs in the latest release.
Thanks.

This sounds like it could be the one we are talking about on the bug
report "network-manager does not detect network"
Binary package hint: network-manager
If I click on the willow on ESSID in network-manager on Dapper with
Gnome 2.14 I cut see the availabele networks but I can't this in Edgy
wit
Sorry. This was a mistake, it refers to what happens in my network
settings panel, as described in #77256.
What you asked is the following:
- Right click on the NM icon, on the taskbar
- Enable wireless connection
- When I click on the icon of NM, I get the tag of "Wireless Networks", but
there a
System > Administration > Network > Wireless Connection > Properties
There is a field named "Network Name (ESSID)" . This has got a dropdown menu,
which is always empty.
The 'display' of the dropdown works as a textbox. So, if i type there the
ESSID, and press enter, it connects to my network.
Can you tell me how you're manually typing the preferred ESSID in? That
is, can you (in more detail) explain the steps of your issue?
