Hi! I just noticed the same effect after a fresh ubuntu 12.04
installation. It was probably also the case with my previous ubuntu
11.10. In my case, compiz increases from less than 10 to above 70 % when
I start thunderbird. Xorg is affected to a lesser extent.

Could be the caused by the size of the icon of thunderbird maybe, though
I have just to test this. a similar thing happens with Clementine but
worse.

icon size would be spiking memory usage possibly, but shouldn't really
