For me it is reproducible in the same way as Yang Zhang said.
Does it have something to do with graphics card maybe? I have NVidia
propriety drivers installed. I tried the live CD on my laptop (which has
intel graphics) and couldn't reproduce the error.

Now it's reproducible on every login.
But when I try to make screenshot with GIMP's tool (File - Create - Screenshot)
the numbers always appear.
And I didn't find any other way to make them appear immediately yet.

It occurs quite often after boot-ups for me. Since the boot-up is
automatic, I would say it's somewhat of a random behavior. I use a
desktop computer.

Same as other people. Loading a program not in the dock gets the numbers
back.
Oddly, it doesn't happen on my netbook. The only difference is that I
have empathy start in hidden mode (empathy -h). I wonder if that has
anything to do with it?

I've also seen this a couple times. Much like the Spanish Inquisition, I
never expect it. I can't reproduce when it happens, but I have found
that logging out and back in my account will make the numbers reappear.
Ironically, the first time I noticed the problem, I tried to take a

I had the same issue and had filed a duplicate bug (marked it as such).
Mine seems to most often happen just after a reboot but isn't
consistent. After an icon has been added to the launcher in the new
session (starting an app typically) the problem goes away.

@David: unfortunately, not that I can think of :/
If the problem is really regular, I can maybe push a special version with
additional debug info in a ppa, but if you can find an easy way to reproduce it
in the coming days, do not hesitate (and reset the bug to new then) :)
Thanks!

Thanks for your bug report and help to make unity better.
Is this reproduceable reliably? Can you please find a reproducible test case
like:
1. log to the ubuntu session
2. press super
3. numlock doesn't appear if…
This kind of reproducible steps will help us to debug the issue :)
Thanks a lot!
