Hi, I have the same problem on W520. Tried both xorg-intel and nVidia
binary drivers, various BIOS settings (integrated / discrete / optimus),
but neither VGA nor DisplayPort connection is detected at all, tested on
three different monitors. Any idea how to solve this?

To manage notifications about this
- vga set to discrete
- driver in use is nVidia
- monitor cable is connected to the laptop port.
- monitor cable is connected to the docking station port.
The monitor light is deemed, i.e. no signal from the laptop.

I have the same problem and tried LiuCougar's fix. Unfortunately none
of the three BIOS options seems to help at all.

I bet the problem is your BIOS setting: try to change it to optimus or
discrete, then your vga/displayport would work
(the integrated video card can only drive the laptop LCD itself, nothing
else)

Did you try with the binary drivers?
Remember that if it works fine with the nVidia drivers, it should pass
certifcation with a note.

I should also note that the monitor status light does change when
connected to either DisplayPort or ext VGA, but no extra desktop appears
and the monitor does not show up when scanned using the monitor tool.
