Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-manager
In updating to Kubuntu 11.04 from Kubuntu 10.10 (update-manager-kde 1:0.142.23), I noticed some glitches with the Release Notes window that appeared: * I went on to do other things and then was puzzled that Software Updates was stuck at "System Settings Waiting for distribution upgrade to complete". This was actually waiting for me to click in the Release Notes window. * This dependency would be more obvious if the Release Notes window title were something like "Distribution Update - Release Notes" so it would show up in task list and status bar. ( UpdateManager/DistUpgradeFetcherKDE.py line 89) * It would be nice if the notes were rendered as HTML instead of wiki markup. They're already built in HTML at http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/natty/main/dist-upgrader- all/current/ReleaseAnnouncement.html * The notes should include a "These release notes are available at http://some/URL" so I don't waste time copying and pasting them into another window for future reference. Either the releaseNotesURI/releaseNotesURIHTML text could include this, or UpdateManager/DistUpgradeFetcherKDE.py around line 92 could append this text + uri. * It would be nice if the release notes were Kubuntu specific (already filed as bug 579580).
