I forgot which link/bug report suggested that I do this, but enabling
the "proposed" archive for Natty fixed the problem for me. Follow the
instructions here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed
Once this is fixed in the production version, you can disable
"proposed."

The package linux-firmware in oneiric carries newer firmware for
BCM43224[1]. I think it is a good idea to try whether this solves the
issue. There is more than one way to do that, but I would probably
simply update the whole linux-firmware package with

The freezing still occurs here with 2.6.39 but with a lower frequency.
Usually the system freeze when there are many connections/downloads.

The freezing problem has not repeated from around two weeks. My problem
is that I contracted a 50Mbps connection but in linux I just get 20Mbps
but in windows I get 50Mbps.
I supposed it is caused by the driver.

I left mine on a number of days without freezing.
I am using rc5.
I've found 2.6.39 rc5 to be quite stable.
Wireless is full speed 5ghz and stable. I don't use 2.4Ghz though.

Thanks Mahmoud
Such a kernel from that ppa[1] is probably the best choice for now, as
it is an ubuntu kernel unlike the ones from the ubuntu mainline
archive[2].
I see the driver has been renamed from brcm80211 (in kernel 2.6.38[3])
to brcmsmac (in kernel 2.6.39[4]).

The problem is not reproducible on 2.6.39 from the Kernel team PPA.

Hi I have the same problem with my dell vostro 3400.
I always use the same driver. This is the info from my computer so you
can add it to your database.

Could you both test with the ubuntu kernel from proposed[1] (currently
corresponding to 2.6.38.4 stable).
I see you are using different drivers. Do you always use the same or
have you changed at some point?
@Mahmoud
If the kernel from proposed does not work could you also test with 2.6.39rc4[2].

Good to know that 2.6.39 fixes the bug.
A couple of other details that might be useful to compare all those
Broadcom bugs:
lspci -k | grep Network --after-context 3
gives both the available driver and the one that is currently used.
lspci -vvnn | grep Network
gives the PCI Identification number,
