[Aspire 5253, Conexant CX20584, Black Headphone Out, Right]
This is the biggest problem I'm facing with ubuntu 10.04 and my Acer Aspire
5253-BZ684. At this point I'd just be happy to have a way of muting the
speakers while the headphones stayed on.. . Problems been here for most of the
year, I can't believe someone hasn't figured this out by now.

For what it is worth, I am not having this problem in Onereic Beta.
However, sound doesn't work in flash videos, but where sound does work
(e.g., Banshee), the headphone jack does now work.

I have the same laptop and have the same problem. It's not just ubuntu,
it's happening in slackware as well. I hope someone finds a fix for
this soon, it's inhibiting my audio production capabilities drastically.
