This bug affects me. I also have a Aspire Timeline 5810TZ. It was a problem with prior releases too (back to Lucid). I had to go in an edit fstab to create an entry for the drive. I just had to do a install (rather than upgrade) of 11.04 (passwd policy would not accept a new password I entered and
