Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: smartmontools

Synaptic says I'm using 5.39.1+svn3124-2, yet smartmontools itself
reports its version number as release 5.36 dated 2006/04/12 at 17:39:01
UTC. The current version, BTW, is 5.40.

I assume this has something to do with the fact that under Ubuntu 11.04
my disk tests no longer run, my disks are now said not to support SMART,
and I get error messages to standard commands that are recommended on
the smartmontools website - e.g.

sudo smartctl -q noserial -a /dev/sda

smartctl version 5.36 [x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu] Copyright (C) 2002-6 Bruce
Allen
