Public bug reported: Binary package hint: smartmontools
Synaptic says I'm using 5.39.1+svn3124-2, yet smartmontools itself reports its version number as release 5.36 dated 2006/04/12 at 17:39:01 UTC. The current version, BTW, is 5.40. I assume this has something to do with the fact that under Ubuntu 11.04 my disk tests no longer run, my disks are now said not to support SMART, and I get error messages to standard commands that are recommended on the smartmontools website - e.g. sudo smartctl -q noserial -a /dev/sda smartctl version 5.36 [x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu] Copyright (C) 2002-6 Bruce Allen Home page is http://smartmontools.sourceforge.net/ =======> INVALID ARGUMENT TO -q: noserial =======> VALID ARGUMENTS ARE: errorsonly, silent <======= ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: smartmontools 5.39.1+svn3124-2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-8-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue May 17 13:14:57 2011 ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_GB:en LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: smartmontools UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to natty on 2011-05-03 (13 days ago) ** Affects: smartmontools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug natty -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/783960 Title: incorrect version number -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
