The times I've experienced it, I have had the following applications open:
Firefox, GEdit, Terminal and Libreoffice Calc (each maximized on a seperate

are caps lock and alt-shift (keyboard layout change). The bug occurs at
random intervals and doesn't reproduce after logging out and in again.
I'm usually running Opera+Banshee+Lyx applications.
The sequence of events typically
The problem happens when with Opera to do the drag and drop of a link in a web
page.
If i drag and drop a link from a page with the mouse, Unity appears and it
disappear away anymore.

I can confirm using a different combination of programs and drivers: here on
Ubuntu 11.04 x64, it-IT i18n, with Firefox, Chrome, Chromium, Quassel, emesene,
Empathy, skype open.
